From the 1760s onwards Pietro Giovanni Mantegazza (c. 1730-1803) was the most prolific violinmaker in Milan. His style is often neater and more restrained than his master, Carlo Ferdinando Landolfi, and for this violin he used carefully chosen materials and a slightly subdued brown-gold colored varnish. The head is later.
