The property of a former principal bassist who used it as his primary instrument, this bass was modeled after the work of the Florentine makers, Lorenzo & Tomasso Carcassi of the late 18th century. Its modest proportions and Italian modeling promote ease of playability without sacraficing power or projection. The bass was made without compromise of the finest materials. - Highly figured Italian poplar for the back, and Sitka spruce for the top.  The bass is now fitted with a Robertson & Sons custom chromatic low 'C' extension.  Tonally it is extremely powerful and has the dense core and "Italian growl"  characteristic of the finest basses made in Florence during the late 18th century.
