Raymond Melanson is a graduate of the Violin Making School of America in Salt Lake City.  After graduation he establised a violin making program at the North Bennett Street School in Boston.  During his 30+ years of experience, he has built over 300 instruments,  approximately 70 of these are cellos. Sixty of these cellos are modeled after the famed Guarneri del Gesu of 1731 and have a slightly shorter string and body length. Throughout his carreer, Ray has won over 13 awards at VSA Makers Competitions, among these are four silver medals for tone.  His instruments are built and varnished in the Italian tradition. They each produce their own individuality and expansive sound that projects extremely well.  Melanson cellos are being performed and recorded upon by great artists around the world.
