Marco Retana, double bassist and bow technician, holds a bachelor’s degree from the Oberlin Conservatory of Music, and a Performance Diploma from Southern Methodist University. While a student at Oberlin, Marco studied with Rodney Mohr, Master Bow Maker and Restorer, through his Bow Re-hair and Maintenance course. Since then, he has attended bow restoration workshops through the Violin Society of America, as well as Rodney Mohr’s Bow Making Workshop. During his time at SMU, Marco performed with regional orchestras in the DFW Metroplex, and privately taught in Richardson and Plano ISD. Marco’s experience and education in music performance allows him to understand and meet the bow repair needs for all string players.
