Music Matters
The KOAT “Music Matters” initiative
At its core, the initiative organizes instrument donation drives where community members give used instruments—such as violins, violas, and cellos—that are then refurbished and distributed to students through the New Mexico Philharmonic’s Young Musicians Initiative.

The goal of “Music Matters” is to remove financial barriers that often prevent children from participating in music programs. By supplying instruments and encouraging community involvement, the program helps students gain hands-on musical experience, develop creativity, and stay engaged in school activities. It also strengthens the broader arts community by investing in the next generation of musicians and ensuring that music education remains accessible across New Mexico.
Robertson & Sons Violin Shop is accepting the donated instruments through March 28th at the shop. KOAT will there here all day on Friday, March 27th to accept the donations directly.
