Trade In Policy
The original purchaser of a musical instrument and bow from Robertson & Sons Violin Shop, Incorporated (Robertson’s) may trade an instrument and bow purchased from Robertson’s in exchange for another instrument and bow of equal value or more. One instrument may be traded for one instrument and one bow may be traded for one bow.
We do not allow:

Trading down in value
-
Multiple trade-ins towards one instrument or bow
-
Trading an instrument for a bow; trading a bow for an instrument

Cases on trade-in
-
Trade-in for credit on account
-
Instruments or bows as trade-ins towards accessories, repairs or shipping costs
-
Robertson’s instruments purchased from other individuals or businesses as trade-ins
-
Trade-ins for consignment pieces, only for shop-owned instruments
The purchaser will receive credit against the purchase price of the new instrument and bow for the original amount paid. If the difference of the trade-in and the new instrument being purchased does not exceed $1000, the purchaser will be responsible for the shipping fees, round trip.

If a musical instrument or bow being traded needs repair to restore the instrument to its original condition, the cost of such repairs will be deducted from the amount of the credit allowed by Robertson’s for a trade-in. Typical repairs may include but are not limited to the following: bow rehair, tip replacement, grip replacement, refinishing the stick, bridge replacement, edge or corner replacement, fingerboard dress, varnish touch up, cleaning, gluing of cracks and seam openings, replacing strings or pegs, and other such repairs.
Customers who want to trade any musical instrument or bow may be required to show a copy of the sales invoice as proof that they purchased the instrument or bow from Robertson’s. THE PURCHASER’S RIGHTS ARE NON-TRANSFERABLE.

Robertson’s reserves the right to modify or discontinue this trade-in policy at any time, without prior notice. This policy may be discontinued at the option of Robertson’s, if Robertson’s is ever dissolved as a corporation, or if Robertson’s sells or transfers its business to another person or entity.
